One of the popular craft practices in gyubang culture since ancient times was embroidered pillowcases using wooden needles. This technique required great care, and was undertaken mostly in Subokgangnyeong, Mansumugang, and Deuknam. Women embroidered symbolic letters and flowers and birds, which symbolized the happy couple. But there are many other symbols on the pillowcases, which were intended to gather energy. I designed my own works in this spirit.
