This is a cabinet developed in collaboration with Standard a, created with the shared vision of harmonizing practicality and beauty to produce items needed for everyday life. Even in an age where speed and efficiency are virtues, I believe there is value in items used in everyday spaces that can only be created through the sensitivity of the fingertips and time-honed craftsmanship, infused with artistic value and the maker’s dedication.
As the second project of Standard a, we developed and . Among them, the home bar uses the technique of floral patterns on a heated ceramic surface, creating an abstract pixelated design.
Hwamunseok Ji_Chang
Originally, hwamunseok is a traditional Korean textile craft made by harvesting and drying wild rice straw, hand-weaving each strand, and placing floral or geometric patterns on it. They have long been regarded as precious objects, and symbolic patterns wishing for blessings and dignity were often added to elevate the spatial sense of a space.
Hwamunseok Cabinet captures the texture of traditional handcraft within contemporary furniture forms. Monocollection applied Hwamunseok tiles, crafted with its own geometric lines and proportions, to the front of the door. The vertically elongated, grid-like golden rush pattern blends naturally with the wood grain, creating a sense of three-dimensionality where light and texture intersect.
Hwajodo Ji_Chang and Hwamunseok Ji_Chang will be launched as regular products in Standard A’s collection with Mono Collection. The basic exterior shape is produced identically, while the interior configuration can be changed to a kitchen-style, wardrobe-style, or bespoke design.
