My white porcelain series mainly used the outline of the moon jar or white porcelain pottery made during the Joseon Dynasty. I worked with this characteristic line. In addition, I was inspired by beautiful Korean landscape and flower and bird paintings, as seen on blue and white porcelain. I was also impressed by Korean paintings of overlapping ink-andwash orchids. But my pattern was also inspired by the twentieth-century Italian artist Giorgio Morandi’s still-life paintings. I was especially interested in his sense of volume. Because I wanted to communciiate the feeling that in the marks on the surface of the old white porcelain we can see the passage of time, I digitally printed my design on thick Korean paper. This design has been used for wallpaper, folding screens, and furniture, etc.
